What is functional medicine anyways?

Functional Medicine is root cause medicine that treats the whole person, addressing the unique physical, mental, and emotional needs of each individual.  It provides a framework to systematically identify and address underlying processes and dysfunctions that are causing imbalance and disease in each individual.  By understanding a patient’s genetic, environmental, and lifestyle influences, functional medicine helps to create personalized interventions to restore balance, health, and well-being.

We do this together with a lifestyle prescription of education and habit change.  Co-creating a personalized plan focusing on sleep and relaxation, exercise and movement, nutrition and hydration, stress and resilience, as well as relationships and networks that are crucial to living your best life.

Discovering your Inner Gold

In today's fast-paced, material driven world, we often neglect our inner world— the unconscious the root of our being.  Our ancestors relied on instinct and impulse rather than logic, and as Carl Jung stated, "people don't have ideas, ideas have people."

For years my identity was shaped by my job title and societal expectations of my  industry.  The version of myself I presented to the world didn't always align with how I felt inside.  When I began my journey, I chose to let go of external expectations and reconnected to my true self.  I paid attention to qualities in others, identifying what resonated with me and what didn't.  Facing my inner world, including my shadows, was both challenging and transformative.

Simple daily choices, like smiling at strangers or singing in the car with the windows down, helped me to embrace my authenticity.  Living true to myself meant no longer apologizing for who I am.  By honoring my inner gold, I cultivated self-acceptance and joy.
